With two Guinness one looked at the Arsenal game in the TV before it then went in the direction DW Stadium. The stadium can be reached in about 30 minutes on foot. Since very many fans prefer the sidewalk you only need to follow the appropriately adjusted people.
The stadium is located almost directly behind a large shopping center and has four stands with open corners. You can like the architectural style - but you don't have to...
At the ticket counter, you were received in a friendly manner and also the deposited cards worked wonderfully again. In the fan store then surprisingly no Will Grigg corner - there would be marketingtechnisch quite more possible ;-)
The small hunger was satisfied with a burger. For English conditions, this was on a better level - but overall rather a disappointment again. A decent Bosner stand in England could be a goldmine...
Due to Wigan's weak start to the season, the stadium was also only half full. Since the back gate stands - except for the not so few away fans - were almost completely unoccupied, it looked like even less.
The game was then on a very, very modest level. That Wigan in their situation would not bring much on the row one could almost expect. Brighton was but in the race for the front places - which one could imagine whether the performance shown rather difficult. Thus it remained also up to the half time with a 0:0 without real scoring chances.
Also in the second half time it went similarly further, whereby Brighton had always more of the play. This then resulted in the 68th minute in the opening goal by Dale Stephens, which brought the away fans in an enormous mood of celebration.
Right much momentum took the game then but also not on and the retracting wind through the open corners made the whole thing a tame affair for the spectators and the already in England obligatory early withdrawal of the fans set here even earlier.
Also in the closing minutes, the boys from Wigan were denied the lucky punch compared to the away game in Leeds. So in the end Wigan had to take another defeat and Brighton could actually settle in the upper table positions.
