With a seating capacity of approximately 64,642, the Estádio da Luz has repeatedly proven its capability to host top-tier international events. Its inaugural major tournament was UEFA Euro 2004, culminating in the final where Greece famously defeated hosts Portugal. The stadium has also been the esteemed host of two UEFA Champions League Finals: in 2014, an all-Madrid derby saw Real Madrid triumph over Atlético Madrid, and in 2020, it provided the dramatic backdrop for the final between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, held behind closed doors due to global circumstances.
