After the Hutnik Kraków match, we had actually planned to attend the Women’s First Division match between UJ Kraków and FKS Katowice. Unfortunately, the venue had been incorrectly listed online, so when we arrived we found the stadium closed. At least there was a small pub next door, so we were able to pass the time with a few cold drinks. This meant, however, that the ‘3 matches in one day’ plan had come to nothing.
At least we knew exactly which stadium to go to for the evening match. Our destination was the Cracovia Stadium, home to first-division side KS Cracovia. The oldest Polish football club, founded in 1906, was the first Polish football champions and has been playing in the top flight since 2013. Their opponents were Wisla Plock, the newly promoted side, who are also in the top third of the table. Generally speaking, the Polish first division is extremely tight this year, so this match was also about keeping pace with the top teams.
Here too, there was once again a large police presence outside the stadium, but the atmosphere inside was brilliant and the home fans created a great atmosphere, even though the stadium wasn’t completely full.

Cracovia also started quite well and kept creating good chances. However, neither side managed to score before the break. After the break, however, the match quickly spiced up after Wisla Plock took the lead through a deflected shot from Bosko Sutalo. The home side, playing in red and white, immediately pressed for an equaliser, which they managed just a few minutes later. Ajdin Hasic capitalised on a rebound in the defence and scored from close range to make it 1-1.
Cracovia now wanted more and increased the pressure in attack. However, this created good counter-attacking opportunities, and Deni Juric capitalised on one of them to restore the visitors’ lead. Although the home side tried everything right until the end and even created some good chances, it wasn’t enough to secure any points. Cracovia thus lost touch with the top spots, whilst Wisla Plock can continue to focus on the battle for European football .
