A Phoenix Rises: The Journey Back to Plough Lane
The story of Plough Lane is deeply intertwined with one of English football's most controversial episodes. The original Plough Lane was the beloved home of Wimbledon F.C. for 79 years, witnessing their meteoric rise and FA Cup triumph against Liverpool in 1988. Following their relocation from Plough Lane in 1991 and subsequent ground-share, the ultimate blow came in 2002 when the FA approved the club's relocation to Milton Keynes, becoming Milton Keynes Dons. Outraged supporters immediately formed AFC Wimbledon, starting from the bottom. Their unwavering goal: to return to a stadium in Wimbledon, a mission finally realised with the new Plough Lane.
