Brentford Community Stadium

Opened in August 2020, this state-of-the-art venue marked a significant new chapter for the Bees, replacing their beloved, historic home, Griffin Park, after 116 years.

A New Era for the Bees

The move from Griffin Park was necessitated by the club's growth and aspirations, particularly their desire to compete at the highest level of English football. Griffin Park, famed for having a pub on each corner, held immense sentimental value but lacked the infrastructure and capacity required for a modern Premier League club. The new stadium, initially known as the Brentford Community Stadium, was designed not just as a football ground but as a cornerstone for local regeneration, integrating residential and commercial developments around it.

Design and Capacity

With a capacity of approximately 17,250 spectators, the stadium offers an intimate yet vibrant atmosphere. Designed by the renowned architecture firm Populous, it prioritises fan experience with excellent sightlines and modern facilities. The ground's compact design ensures that supporters are close to the action, creating a cauldron of noise that has quickly become a formidable advantage for Brentford FC. Its construction also made it one of the most environmentally friendly stadiums in the UK at the time of its opening.

Beyond Football

True to its "Community" designation, the stadium was conceived as a multi-purpose venue. For a period, it served as the home ground for rugby union club London Irish, showcasing its adaptability beyond football. This shared tenancy highlighted the stadium's robust design and ability to host various major sporting events. While London Irish have since moved on, the stadium's flexible infrastructure remains a testament to its forward-thinking design.

The Gtech Community Stadium

In July 2022, the stadium underwent a naming rights change, becoming the Gtech Community Stadium through a partnership with the smart home and garden appliance company, Gtech. This commercial agreement further solidifies the club's financial stability and continued development, allowing Brentford FC to thrive in its contemporary surroundings and push for sustained success in the upper echelons of English football. The stadium stands as a symbol of the club's journey from a traditional, lower-league setup to a modern, top-tier competitor, embodying the spirit of progress and community engagement.
