The Origins of The Saints

Southampton Football Club, affectionately known as "The Saints", boasts a rich history rooted in the maritime city of Southampton, England. The club was founded in 1885 by members of the St. Mary's Church of England Young Men's Association, initially playing as St. Mary's Y.M.A.. They quickly gained prominence, changing their name to Southampton St. Mary's in 1887 and eventually to Southampton FC in 1897. In 2001, the club moved from The Dell to its new, state-of-the-art home, St. Mary's Stadium, marking a new chapter in its history.
