About the Club:
In the picturesque South Moravian region of the Czech Republic lies the historic city of Znojmo, home to 1. SC Znojmo FK, a football club with a rich and evolving history. Founded over a century ago, the club embodies the enduring spirit of Czech football, having navigated numerous changes and a memorable journey to the country's top flight.
A Century of Football Heritage
The club's origins trace back to 1910, established as Sportovní klub Znojmo. Over the decades, it saw several transformations reflecting national shifts. A key moment was the 1993 merger of FC Znojmo and TJ Rudá Hvězda Znojmo. Further consolidation in 1999, involving Fotbal Jevišovice, led to the current name, 1. SC Znojmo FK. This evolution highlights a continuous effort to maintain a competitive football presence in the region.
The Zenith: Top Flight Football
The proudest chapter in 1. SC Znojmo FK's history unfolded in the 2013-2014 season. Against significant odds, the team achieved promotion to the Czech top division, then the Synot Liga. This was an extraordinary accomplishment for a club from a relatively small city. Due to league requirements, their home ground, Městský stadion v Horním parku, was deemed unsuitable. Consequently, Znojmo played home matches in the larger city of Brno, at Městský fotbalový stadion Srbská. Despite a valiant effort, the club was relegated after one season, but its brief stint among the elite left an indelible mark.
Local Identity and Enduring Spirit
Today, 1. SC Znojmo FK continues to compete in lower tiers of Czech football, yet its identity as a cornerstone of the Znojmo community remains strong. The club's journey, from humble beginnings to the pinnacle and back, is a testament to local football's passion and resilience. It serves as a focal point for sports enthusiasts, fostering talent and upholding the beautiful game's traditions. For more on their history, visit the 1. SC Znojmo FK Wikipedia page.
