About the Club:
St Joseph's Football Club, often simply known as 'The Saints', stands as a venerable institution within Gibraltarian football. Hailing from the sun-drenched British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, the club boasts a rich history spanning over six decades, reflecting the passion and evolving landscape of football on the Rock. As a proud member of the Gibraltar Football Association, St Joseph's plays a vital role in the domestic league structure.
A Foundation of Dedication
Established in 1957, St Joseph's FC quickly carved out a niche for itself. The club’s early years were characterized by a strong community spirit and a commitment to developing local talent. This foundation eventually led to their first taste of significant silverware, marking them as a persistent force in the domestic scene.
Rise to Prominence and Trophies
The mid-1990s proved to be a golden era for The Saints. They achieved their most coveted domestic honour, winning the Gibraltar Premier Division title in the 1995-96 season. This historic triumph cemented their place among the elite. Complementing this league success, St Joseph's also lifted the prestigious Rock Cup in 1996, completing an impressive double. Further Rock Cup victories followed in 2013 and most recently in 2024, showcasing their enduring competitive spirit. The 2024 Rock Cup win also secured them the Pepe Reyes Cup, further adding to their modern silverware cabinet.
European Aspirations
With Gibraltar's full membership in UEFA in 2013, St Joseph's FC, like other top Gibraltarian clubs, gained the opportunity to compete on the continental stage. Their European journey began in the 2017-18 season, participating in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. Since then, The Saints have become regular contenders in European competitions, primarily in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers, representing their nation against teams from across Europe. These campaigns, though challenging, have provided invaluable experience and exposure, raising the club's profile beyond Gibraltar's shores. All domestic matches and European home games are played at Gibraltar's national stadium, the Victoria Stadium.
St Joseph's FC continues to be a cornerstone of Gibraltarian football, embodying tradition, resilience, and a forward-looking ambition to achieve further success both domestically and in Europe, always proudly representing the blue and white colours of 'The Saints'.
